time to thaw wins international Google award
bounce's "Time To Thaw" campaign, created for South Carolina Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, won the inaugural Google Wisdom of the Crowd Award at the 2008 HSMAI Adrian Awards, the international travel and tourism industry's annual gala recognizing the year's best advertising campaigns. From a pool of 15,000 entries, the judges narrowed down the entries to their favorite three, then those campaigns were reviewed by consumers across the country. The campaign that was deemed the favorite in this nationwide poll was declared the winner of the 2008 Google Wisdom of the Crowd Award.
"It's truly an honor to win an award like this that's judged not only by a panel of industry peers, but also by the people that matter the most in advertising, the consumer," said John McDermott President and Creative Director of bounce.
The "Time To Thaw" campaign was a two-month awareness effort executed in the winter of 2008 in downtown Chicago. The campaign featured numerous guerilla executions and installations that reminded frosty Chicagoans that South Carolina is a great place to thaw out in the winter. The TimeToThaw.com microsite received 1.2 million hits on its Hot Deals page alone on its way to creating a 24% increase in traffic to the South Carolina main site during similar periods in previous years.
